What is the difference between brocade and jacquard? It can be said that all brocades are based on jacquard, but not all jacquards are brocades. Why? Jacquard takes its name from the weaving loom that revolutionized the way in which very intricately printed materials were woven, for example brocade. Now, jacquard usually refers to all fabrics that are made with this loom. Brocade is a fabric with a very rich appearance, with a print that is repeated in relief and which is not reversible.
Brocade can be woven from natural silk threads or synthetic fibers: from multiple colors or interwoven with gold threads.
Damask is another type of jacquard, and unlike brocade, it is reversible: the material is the same on both sides.
Both brocade and damask were the favorite fabrics of kings and were very expensive. Shiral offers you a wide range of brocade and jacquard, imported from Italy and France, centers with a tradition in fabrics.
